Once dry (about
two weeks ago) we now scrape off the excess dried glue that has squeezed out and ready it
for thickness sanding.
The 2 pieces were pre-sanded oversized before glue-up. The extra thickness allows for
misallignment or cupping during glue-up.
The final thickness of the body spread, once glued to the top, is 1.250 in this case. I
shoot for 1.275 right now which will once again allow for a little bit of clean-up after
the top is glued on.
Here is the body spread coming out of the wide belt sander. Buddy John helps. When doing
multiple bodies having one guy on one side of the sander, and another on the back side
makes for a lot less leg work. One guys feeds, the other catches. |
